Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
The role of Pacific Advisor is to enhance the retention, achievement and completion rates of Pacific students at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha. This will be done through the provision of effective student advice and pastoral care support, and the delivery of cohort specific programmes, projects and events.

Mōu | Who You Are
A successful candidate will have a minimum of 4 years' experience including:

  • An understanding of the academic, social and cultural needs of Pacific students
  • Ability to deal with Pacific students with sensitivity and understanding
  • Knowledge and competence in a Pacific language, customs and protocols
  • Experience in supporting a project team and achieving project outcomes
  • Excellent communication and listening skills
  • Experience in report writing
  • Excellent organisation skills and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Experience dealing with Pacific support networks and agencies

Under the leadership of the Director, Pacific Development and Senior Advisor, the Pacific Advisor will be part of the Pacific Development Team (PDT) that provides extensive support, opportunities, programmes, and events for Pacific students at UC as well as some initiatives for UC staff and the wider community.
