A new era in vocational education is unfolding in Tāmaki Makaurau. Te āheinga: The opportunity
Make a meaningful impact on learner success by providing high-quality mental health support and guidance. This role is dedicated to helping students thrive throughout their studies, with a particular focus on supporting Māori, Pacific, Disabled, and Neurodiverse learners.
This fixed-term opportunity, available until August 2027, can be structured as a part-time role to complement an existing practice.

He kōrero mōu: About you
You are a qualified mental health professional with experience in psychotherapy, psychology, counselling, social work, or a related field. You bring a collaborative and student-centred approach, with the ability to support individuals experiencing a wide range of mental health challenges while working effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A postgraduate or master's qualification recognised by a relevant New Zealand professional body (such as PBANZ, NZPB, NZAC, NZSWRB, or equivalent).
- Current full membership and/or registration with the appropriate professional body.
- At least three years' experience supporting individuals with complex and enduring mental health needs.
- Strong skills in risk assessment and management.
- An understanding of the social factors that influence educational and employment outcomes in Aotearoa New Zealand.
- An understanding or desire to learn te reo Māori, tikanga Māori, and the values and practices of kaupapa Māori
- Evidence of active engagement in building diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplaces/environments
It would be great if you also have:
- Experience working in a tertiary education or student support environment.
- Experience designing and delivering workshops, training sessions, or presentations.
- Knowledge of a range of service delivery models and approaches.
- Strong relationship-building skills across multidisciplinary teams and external networks.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and other digital systems.
