Manager, Learner Engagement & Success Services

Reporting to the Executive Director: Learning Delivery, the Manager, Learner Engagement & Success Services ensures that all Open Polytechnic learners have a learning experience where their engagement and educational success is underpinned by access to a range of services that match their needs.  Reporting to this role are the Team Leaders, Student Mentors.

The effective leadership and management of the mentor workforce is a primary function of the Manager, Learner Engagement & Success Services, along with the development of standards, evaluation and management of the delivery of learner services that enhance learner experience, engagement and success.

If you have the following qualification, skills and experience we would like to hear from you.

  • Knowledge of Mātauranga Māori, understanding and knowledge of the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and some proficiency in Te Reo me ona tikanga Māori
  • Well-developed communication skills with the experience to effectively clarify goals and communicate information in a business situation
  • Proven successful team management experience including managing distributed teams
  • Experience leading and driving strategic change
  • An understanding of the current tertiary education sector including knowledge and experience of trends in distance education and digital learning
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to quickly establish rapport and credibility to work with peers in a collegial, constructive manner
  • A graduate or post graduate qualification in an education-related discipline
