Scion specialises in research, science and technology development for the forestry industry, wood products, and wood-derived materials and chemicals. We lead new technology development for renewables, bioproducts and energy and the establishment of a broader-based bioeconomy.

We are looking for a Management Accountant to join our vibrant financial team. Reporting to the Management Accountant Team Lead, you will work closely with the Finance team to support Project Leaders and budget holders to ensure project financial outcomes are achieved.

Key accountabilities:

  • Support the Portfolio Office and Project Leaders to ensure project management outcomes are achieved.  
  • Support projects by ensuring there is well established, and managed budgeting and forecasting.
  • Work closely with the Finance team to support Project Leaders and budget holders to complete month end processes and ensure they meet requirements within the required timeframe.
  • Provide the wider business with financial support, training as required.

To be successful in this role, your skills and experience will include:

  • Chartered Accountant or bachelor's degree in accounting, Economics.
  • Ideally someone that is either a member of a professional accounting body or working towards becoming a member of a professional body.
  • Analytical skills together with the ability to resolve issues, build strong relationships and deliver outcomes.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the provision of a quality and timely service, and a strong work ethic.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate financial concepts and management techniques to non-finance professionals.
  • Demonstrated skills and commitment to provision of customer service orientated financial and administrative services.
  • Ability to work independently to determine priorities and to organise, follow-up and monitor essential tasks. 
  • Clear ability to anticipate needs and use initiative, judgement and tact to establish priorities, cope with pressure and maintain a flexible approach whilst maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of financial systems.
  • Good communication (oral and written) skills and a flexible and collaborative personal style.
  • Demonstrated skills in building trust, motivating and developing good relationships with others.
