Massey University’s Libraries offer physical and virtual environments that provide access to scholarly resources, anywhere, anytime. We are seeking a dependable, energetic, and service-oriented Library Assistant to join the vibrant and innovative Wellington Campus Library in a permanent part-time role.

The successful applicant will join the team responsible for providing library services and answering enquiries from internal and distance clients. Applicants will be expected to demonstrate:

• Strong customer service orientation.
• Accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills (oral, written, and listening).
• Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment.
• Good digital literacy skills.
• Legal entitlement to commit to a full-time permanent role in New Zealand.

The successful applicant must have the ability to commit to the following shift for a minimum of 12 hours per week during the academic year (1 weeknight shift + 1-day shift + 1-weekend shift):

• Five hours: Thursday night shift (5.30 pm-11 pm)
• Two hours: one two-hour weekday shift (Monday-Thursday)
• Five hours: Saturday evening shift (2.30 pm-8 pm)

As this role involves shift work, including evening and weekend shifts, access to personal transport is recommended. This position will include working on statutory or University holidays if the normal working day falls on a statutory or University holiday unless the Library is closed on those days; the actual hours worked on this day may vary.
