Āu Mahi | What You Will Do

A Lecturer (Teaching and Administration only) is proficient in teaching and is developing their pedagogical practice. They have expertise in a specific discipline-related area informed by recent developments in research/scholarship/creative work and/or their own professional practice.  This role is involved in the broader work of the Department/School, including taking on administrative roles that support the achievement of strategic and operational objectives.

You will also guarantee that Students are given the opportunity to complete Field Education Practicum courses. You will ensure the coordination and delivery of practicum courses to students. You will work to coordinate the provision of field educators and placements and make certain that strong Social Work agency links are developed and maintained

Mōu | Who You Are

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Full registration with the New Zealand Social Workers' Registration Board and hold a current Annual Practicing Certificate.
  • A Masters level qualification or a Social Work Bachelor degree with demonstrable, relevant and suitable professional experience.
  • Extensive social work networks within Ōtautahi/Christchurch and the surrounding areas.
  • Evidence of reputation within discipline.
  • Demonstrated understanding of, and experience in, delivering effective teaching methods that enable a wide range of learners to succeed.
  • Evidence of reflective learning and continuous professional development.
  • Active commitment to upholding the values, tikanga (protocols and processes), kawa (rules) of cultural practice and traditions as guided by mana whenua, Ngāi Tūāhuriri, and valuing te reo Māori.
  • Competency in te reo Māori me ōna tikanga is an advantage.
