Āu Mahi | What You Will Do

UC Business School | Te Kura Umanga, University of Canterbury, invites applications for two continuing/tenured positions in Accounting. One will be a Lecturer with only Teaching and Administration responsibilities and one will be a balanced teaching, research and service position at the Lecturer/Senior Lecturer level.

  • Teach Financial Accounting, Management Accounting and Auditing
  • Interest in Data Analytics and Production Accounting (for the film and game industry)
  • Conduct scholarly impactful research (for the Balanced teaching and research position)

The Balanced position involves actively contributing to the research profile of the Department of Accounting and Information Systems through the pursuit of a programme of impactful research; high-quality teaching at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels; curriculum development; postgraduate research supervision; engaging with external stakeholders; and contributing to departmental and university service.

The Teaching and Administration position involves actively contributing to high-quality teaching at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels; curriculum development; engaging with external stakeholders; and contributing to departmental service.

Mōu | Who You Are

You will have a PhD in Accounting with an aim to build an international reputation in Accounting while making an impact on the local community. Candidates for both positions should be able to demonstrate high level written and oral communication skills. Successful candidates for the teaching focused lecturer position should have evidence of teaching ability at the tertiary level across financial accounting, management accounting and auditing. Successful candidates for the Balanced lecturer position should have the potential to publish in high-quality, internationally recognised academic journals. Candidates for the Balanced senior lecturer position should have a proven record of publications in A and A* (ABDC) journals. All candidates should have outstanding teaching skills and a commitment to quality teaching delivery; and be able and willing to contribute to Department, wider University, and professional service activities.

What we offer
Current Lecturer (Teaching and Administration only) salary range $64,302 to $113,749, Lecturer (Balanced Teaching and Research) $86,197 to $104,487, Senior Lecturer $109,977 to $137,769.
