Position Overview

Kei te rapa mātou o Te Kunenga ki Pūrehuroa i tētahi tautōhito reo kia uru mai ki tō mātou taha o Te Pūtahi-a-Toi, ki Toitū te Reo. Me ngākau nui te kaitono ki te whāngai i te reo, ka tahi. Ka rua, ki te toutou i te maute o te reo kia ngihangiha tonu ai. Ko te hiahia kia kopoua he Pūkenga, Pūkenga Matua reo Māori rānei ki te tūranga tūturu ukiuki i Te Pūtahi-a-Toi, i Te Manawatū. Ko tā te tūranga nei he ako i te reo Māori ki te reanga paetahi, reanga paerua hoki. Ko te kawatau hoki, kia uru atu te kaitono angitu ki tētahi kaupapa rangahau e tika ana.

Ko tā te tūnga mahi mā tēnei tangata:

  • Me matatau ki te reo
  • Me mōhio, mārama hoki ki ngā tikanga
  • He wheako akoranga nōna. Ko hea mai nei te painga atu pēnā kua whakaako ā-ipurangi.
  • Te āheinga ki te tirotiro kaupapa rangahau taumata paerunga. 

We are looking for a reo champion to join our team. You must be passionate about sharing our language and ensuring it remains alive and vibrant. We are seeking to appoint a permanent, fulltime Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Te Reo Māori at Te Pūtahi-a-Toi, School of Māori Knowledge, based on any three of our campuses at Albany (Auckland), Manawatū (Palmerston North) or Pukeahu (Wellington). The position involves teaching te reo Māori at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The successful applicant will also be expected to engage in an appropriate programme of research.

The role requires this person to have:

  • A high fluency in te reo Māori
  • Knowledge and understanding of tikanga
  • Teaching experience. Teaching in an online environment would be advantageous
  • The ability to supervise postgraduate level research projects
