We are looking for an experienced health professional with a passion for out-of-hospital education and research, with a special interest and relevant work experience in post-anaesthetic care, to fill a casual lecturing position for our Perioperative Practice Programme.

The successful applicant will actively engage in facilitating the delivery of education in the undergraduate Perioperative Practice (aka: Anaesthetic Technology) programmes.  There is an expectation that appointees will also contribute to the research culture within the Faculty of Health and Environmental Sciences at AUT University.

The successful applicant should ideally hold a minimum of (or studying towards) a master's qualification in health or science and have current clinical experience in the Anaesthetic Technology/Perioperative hospital environment. The successful applicant will preferably have a relevant teaching history and qualification or be committed to completing a postgraduate education programme. They will embrace the vision and values of the School and commit to ongoing professional development supported by the AUT staff development programme.

The successful applicants will:

  • model best clinical practice
  • be clinically current in the field of perioperative practice, specialising in post-anaesthetic care
  • be currently practising as an Anaesthetic Technician / Perioperative Nurse in New Zealand or Equivalence overseas.
  • maintain a current registration to practise within the perioperative setting in New Zealand
  • inspire and support students' achievements
  • communicate effectively
  • demonstrate writing skills that demonstrate linguistic sophistication
  • have competent organisational and IT skills
  • be based in Auckland
