Position Overview

Our Institute of Education/Te Kura o Te Mātauranga programmes cover the spectrum of graduate and postgraduate programmes including five professional education programmes.

We are now seeking to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer to support the design, development and delivery of our Literacy Education programmes, in particular, the Master of Education (Literacy Education).

For appointment at Lecturer level, you will possess a relevant doctoral qualification or be enrolled in a doctoral qualification. For appointment at Senior Lecturer level, you will have a doctoral qualification and have a proven research publication record.

What we are looking for. Someone who has:

  • Knowledge, understanding and experience with literacy frameworks and approaches.
  • An understanding of the Aotearoa/New Zealand educational system and literacy pedagogical context.
  • Recent, relevant teaching experience especially in literacy education, preferably within a university  or other tertiary teaching environment is required.
  • Experience in the use of electronic and on-line technologies in teaching is required.
  • Experience in supervision of post-graduate student research is advantageous.
  • An understanding of biculturalism in the Aotearoa/New Zealand context and its practical implications for the field of literacy is essential.
  • A record of research and publications appropriate to the level of appointment is required.
