Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Food Science & Innovation

Teaching, research and supervision role based in the Department of Wine, Food & Molecular Biosciences.

Mō te tūka | The role

The Department of Wine, Food and Molecular Biosciences is responsible for delivery of the Bachelor of Viticulture and Oenology, the Bachelor of Science (Food Innovation) and teaching for other related courses.

Key tasks of the role include:

  • Initiate, develop and conduct high quality research.
  • Advance and enhance the teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
  • Contribute to the supervision of postgraduate students' research.
  • Contribute to the wider functioning of the University.
  • Add to extension and other professional activities related to the discipline.

This is a permanent full-time role working 37.5 hours per week based at our Lincoln campus. 

Remuneration for this position is as follows:

  • Lecturer: Grade A6, $87,340 - $94,503
  • Senior Lecturer: Grade A7, $100,113 - $105,872

Kā tino Pūkeka/Whēako | Essential skills/experience for the role

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • PhD in Food Science and/or Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated potential to / proven ability to initiate, develop and conduct quality research, and publish the results in peer-reviewed outlets and present the results at conferences and other events.
  • Evidence of ability to initiate and secure funding from research grants and contracts, from both national and international sources.
  • Evidence of involvement in designing and developing academic course materials for students.
  • Demonstrated experience of supporting student learning and development, and assisting individual students by providing course advice, guidance and assistance with academic matters.
  • Proven ability to provide effective postgraduate thesis supervision.
  • Demonstrated interest in developing and maintaining relationships with relevant government, industry and community organisations and professional associations.
