Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer (Teaching) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering on a one-year fixed-term contract. The role represents a chance to join and help shape a collaborative and growing team in computer science and engineering teaching. It is expected that the appointee will contribute to teaching across three trimesters.

  • Contribute to the review and re-design of programmes and courses.
  • Actively participate in scholarly activity and professional development.
  • Commitment to engagement with the wider community.

Ō pūmanawa - About you

You will be a motivated, student-focused individual who listens to and understands the needs of students and meets those needs through a professional, courteous, and empathetic approach.

You will hold a high level of integrity at both a personal and academic level and commit to maintaining high professional and academic standards. You will be an individual with strong communication skills both orally and written in a variety of ways to suit the situation and needs of the recipients.

You will be collegial and deal with colleagues and others in a respectful and fair way. You will consider equity/diversity perspectives when interacting with colleagues and students alike. You will be willing to build and maintain positive and beneficial internal and external relationships.

Key Requirements:

  • Have a minimum of Doctorate in engineering, or a related area with a good track record of teaching.
  • All areas of Electrical and Electronic Engineering are of interest, but applications are particularly welcome from candidates who also have a strong background in one or more areas of Robotics, Electronics, Signal Processing, and practical engineering skills.
  • Demonstrated evidence of developing skill with a range of pedagogies and technologies.
  • Demonstrated evidence of good oral and written communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with students and staff from a diverse range of backgrounds.
