Position Overview

The School of Music and Creative Media Production is recruiting a full-time Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Animation. The successful candidate will have a post-graduate qualification and/or significant industry experience, and show evidence of excellence in research and teaching.

The ideal candidate will have   both technical and conceptual experience in producing 2D and 3D animation for multiple platforms and be an expert in industry standard 3D software. The successful candidate will also be required to develop and deliver new course content that equips students with the skills and understanding required for an ethical and sustainable career in animation production. 

The School of Music and Creative Media Production was recently established to respond to New Zealand’s growth and internationally recognised reputation for innovation and creativity in both music and media production. It is staffed by internationally acclaimed and award-winning practitioners and is equipped with brand new state of the art facilities, including one of the largest and most high-tech recording studio complexes in the region.

The School of Music and Creative Media Production delivers two undergraduate degree programmes, the Bachelor of Commercial Music and Bachelor of Creative Media Production. The Bachelor of Commercial Music offers majors in Music Practice, Music Technology and Music Industry. The Bachelor of Creative Media Production offers students pathways in Film & TV, Animation & VFX, Game Development, Creative Technologies, Immersive and Producing & Directing.

The School also offers new Honours programmes for both Commercial Music and Creative Media Production as well as a Master of Creative Enterprise (MCE). Together with the School of Design and the School of Art, the School of Music and Creative Media Production is part of the College of Creative Arts at Massey University, Wellington. The School of Design offers majors in Industrial Design, Fashion Design, Spatial Design, Visual Communication Design, Textiles and Concept Design. The School of Art offers majors in Fine Art, Photography and Mäori Visual Arts.
