Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
We invite applications for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Pacific Studies. Applicants must have a PhD degree in Pacific Studies or related subjects. Preference will be given to Pacific scholars with a good understanding of Pacific cultures, regional issues and understanding of Indigenous knowledge in Pacific contexts. The successful candidate will:
- Coordinate the new Pacific Studies courses
- Have a comprehensive understanding of the Pacific region
- Have a strong background in interdisciplinary teaching and research
- Be an outstanding teacher and researcher, with a strong commitment to developing excellent courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Mōu | Who You Are
The successful candidate will contribute to teaching in a wide range of undergraduate courses, not limited to Pacific Studies, to students from diverse backgrounds. Have experience in course writing, coordination, teaching and supervision.
Mahi Ngātahi | Who You Will Work With
The Faculty of Arts is academically vibrant and culturally diverse, comprising of Aotahi: The School of Māori and Indigenous Studies; the School of Humanities; the School of Creative and Digital Arts; and the School of Language, Social and Political Sciences and the Macmillan Brown Centre Pacific. The faculty has a very broad research base including ten research centres and offers a wide range of undergraduate and post graduate degrees, diplomas and certificates. Members of the Faculty have won university awards in both research and teaching and have won a number of prestigious international research awards.
You will work closely with the Pacific Studies lectures, Research Fellows, Pacific community at UC and students.

This role sits within the Academic Staff, Associated Staff and Academic Support Staff Collective Agreement and the following salary scale applies:
This role sits within the Academic Staff, Associated Staff and Academic Support Staff Collective Agreement and the following salary scale applies: Lecturer grade 2.01 ($89,645) to grade 2.03 ($108,144) p.a., Senior Lecturer grade 4.01 ($113,826) to grade 4.05 ($129,098) p.a.
