Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently seeking a permanent, full-time appointment at the Lecturer level (equivalent to North American Assistant Professor) for the School of Psychology. The area of content specialisation for this position is Social Psychology and we welcome applications from individuals who have specialist research knowledge and experience in this broad area. The School has established expertise in the areas of interpersonal and intergroup processes, social cognition and decision making, and political psychology, utilising the full breadth of methodological and analytic approaches (e.g., quantitative, qualitative, experimental, etc). We invite candidates whose expertise/research complements and/or adds to these areas.
Importantly, the School of Psychology has a strong commitment to equity and diversity, and specifically to bicultural practice in research and teaching consistent with the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
This is an exciting opportunity to join an energetic social psychology group with international research and teaching expertise within a world-leading university. The purpose of this position is to contribute to the School’s research, service, and teaching in the area of social psychology. The successful candidate will:
- Contribute to the School’s research, ideally complementing existing research concentrations across the School.
- Add to the School’s existing strengths in teaching at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels with a focus on social psychological science.
Ō pūmanawa - About you
The position is open to all domains of social psychology, broadly construed. The successful applicant will have:
- A PhD in psychology.
- A developing research and publication record.
- Experience in undergraduate and post-graduate teaching and supervision.
- A strong commitment to open science practices.
- A demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusivity, and diversity.
Candidates from Māori/Pasifika backgrounds are especially encouraged to apply.
