Our Department

Established in 1871, the Department of Chemistry at the University of Otago is the oldest chemistry department in New Zealand. We have grown to be one of the largest Departments in the Division of Sciences and contribute to various courses and programmes in Sciences and Health Sciences at the University of Otago, New Zealand's first University.

The Role

Applications are invited for the position of Lecturer in any area of Physical Chemistry. The primary criteria for appointment will be a demonstrated potential for excellence in research and a strong commitment to research-informed teaching.

You will have a PhD, high quality published research and will be expected to establish an effective individual research programme in the Department, including seeking external funding support for research.

In addition to contributing to the teaching programme in your relevant specialist area of chemistry, an enthusiasm to teach in areas such as biophysical chemistry would be helpful. You will also be expected to teach general Chemistry at the first year undergraduate level.
