He angitūtanga: The opportunity

He turanga e ahu whakamua ana te kaitiakitanga me te mahi rangahau. Mēnā he ngākau whiwhita tōu, he ihu oneone koe anō hoki. Me he kawau mārō koe, mō te taiao me te Mātauranga Māori te take - tēnā tono mai mō te tūranga nei ki Te Whare Wānanga o Wairaka.

We now have an exciting opportunity for a permanent Mātauranga Māori lecturer to develop and deliver Mātauranga Māori content in the Postgraduate Certificate in Applied Science (Biodiversity Management), Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Science (Biodiversity Management), Master of Applied Science (Biodiversity Management) and to supervise student research in the Dissertation and Thesis in these programmes.

He kōrero mōu: About you

You'll come with:

  • Demonstrable practical ability to lecture in the vocational education context.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Te Reo Māori, Tikanga Māori, and the values and practices of Kaupapa Māori.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, organising, and delivering Mātauranga Māori learning for students.
  • A post-graduate qualification in a Science discipline.
  • Active researcher, with the capability and passion to contribute towards Unitec's industry and community-driven research.
  • Evidence of active engagement in building diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplaces/environments.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and/or relevant experience in the tertiary education sector.
  • Proven capacity to work collaboratively and effectively as part of a team and contribute to shared outcomes.
  • Sound understanding of staff and academic processes of tertiary education institutions.
  • Demonstrated understanding of how to operate in a bi-cultural environment.
  • Strong industry networks
