Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Lecturer in Law to join the Te Kauhanganui Tātai Ture | Faculty of Law. The position will enhance our capacity in teaching and research in the broad fields of criminal law and justice and the law of evidence.

The role would involve teaching in courses both at undergraduate and postgraduate level, as well as developing an independent research agenda and supervising research students.  The successful applicant is also expected to take on appropriate service roles in contribution to the Faculty attaining its strategic goals, including supporting the establishment of the Centre for Justice Innovation.

Ō pūmanawa - About you

The successful applicant will have solid legal qualifications, preferably with postgraduate qualifications or a commitment to further education. You will be a motivated academic or practitioner with a desire to enhance the learning of students. 

A commitment to delivering high-quality research-led teaching in the core New Zealand Council of Legal Education courses (in particular, Criminal Law) as well as specialist elective courses (including the Law of Evidence) and postgraduate offerings is essential.

While it would be an advantage to have a PhD, candidates with a completed LLM and/or plans for a PhD will also be considered.
