Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
The Department of Global, Cultural and Language Studies (GCLS) is seeking to appoint a Lecturer (teaching and administration only) in German to support the German Programme. This role will also have input across the wider department, with regard to administration, leadership, and developing synergies in teaching. The appointee's principal duties will be the coordination and delivery of German language and related courses at a range of levels. Other responsibilities will include pastoral care of students, administrative tasks, outreach, and supervision of tutors
Mōu | Who You Are
Candidates for this position will have an advanced qualification, usually Masters or above, most likely in German Studies. Expertise or experience in teaching translation or translation studies would be an asset. The University is committed to developing globally-aware graduates, and teaching which supports students' ability to understand and interact effectively in contemporary German culture and language will be particularly appropriate. The candidate will ideally have teaching experience at tertiary level. They must have native or near-native proficiency in German and English, and effective interpersonal skills. Knowledge of e-learning applications and the ability to integrate technology into teaching will be highly appropriate.
