We are seeking a dynamic Learning Advisor (Māori) to join our dedicated Learning Success team, in Te Mātāpuna (Library & Learning Services) which focuses on academic writing and other academic literacies development.  An academic position, working with undergraduate and postgraduate coursework students, the main purpose of this role is to help Māori students succeed in writing and other academic literacies in their university studies.

Through applying your knowledge and experience of te Ao Māori to the design and delivery of workshops and learning resources for undergraduate and postgraduate students you will aim to improve academic success and retention rates for Māori students across the University.  

This position is primarily based at the Waihorotiu (City) campus but will also involve working at Akoranga (North) and Manukau (South) campuses. 

In this position you will:

  • develop and deliver workshops for undergraduate and postgraduate students
  • work with individual or small groups of students on writing and other academic literacies
  • create teaching and learning resources that are centred on the principles of ako and utu
  • initiate and collaborate in research projects directly related to academic literacies development
  • build whakawhanaungatanga across AUT with the aim to increase the academic achievement of Māori students

For this position you will have:

  • a relevant Master's degree (or nearing completion)
  • minimum 1 - 3 years of proven relevant experience teaching in adult education
  • excellent teaching, presentation and communication skills
  • sound IT skills and experience with web-based educational technologies
  • excellent command of both spoken and written te Reo Māori and English

This is a full-time (75 hours per fortnight) position requiring some flexibility of hours.

Salary range TL $75,076 - $89,868; [TSL $92,594 - $109,650 after promotion]
