Learning Teaching and Library is inviting expressions of interest from suitably qualified  staff on campus to fill a short term part time role in the Academic and Career Skills team. 

The role will primarily involve providing individual consultations for UG and PG  course work students  to develop their skills in academic communication, critical analysis, and effective learning.  Other tasks may include providing workshops to  develop academic writing, effective study, and language skills (where the staff member’s skills coincide with sessions offered) and developing resources to enhance academic writing, effective study, and language skills.
This role requires the following skills and experience:


A relevant postgraduate  qualification (preferably with a research component)
Recent experience teaching academic skills  in the tertiary sector
Recent successful experience working with students from diverse backgrounds, including students for whom English is an additional language
A sound knowledge of current teaching and learning practices at the tertiary level
A working knowledge of discipline discourse styles and conventions

This role will be up to 20 hours per week, preferably in minimum blocks of 3-4 hours p day,  beginning  mid- August and finishing November 6 2020.  The role may be shared by two people. 

This role would suit an existing part time staff member wishing to extend their hours for 3 months, or willing to be seconded. Those interested should first discuss the position with their manager.
