The Department of Nursing is committed to the integration of cultural safety into the delivery of our curricula. A kaiwhakaako in the Department of Nursing will purposefully engage in the co-design and implementation of undergraduate and postgraduate nursing programmes. The department commits to a Te Tiriti curriculum with the successful applicant collaborating to kaupapa Māori and interweaving mātauranga aligned with the competencies of Te Kaunihera Tapuhi o Aotearoa.

A registered nurse with a master/doctoral qualification is preferred, we are open to hearing from applicants who have strengths in tikanga, mātauranga, and Te Ao Māori with research or pharmacology knowledge who are interested in working towards an academic career, post-graduate qualifications, and research.

The nursing department is open to kōrero regarding flexible working arrangements that may incorporate working remotely.

The successful applicant will actively engage in facilitating the delivery of education at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.  To achieve great outcomes in this role, as well as your solid experience, you will also bring:

  • Knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi as a foundation for meeting and exceeding professional competencies.
  • Knowledge of te reo me onā Tikanga and/or be willing to deepen your understanding in this space.
  • Connections and relationships to the Mana Whenua of Tāmaki Makaurau or the desire to develop these relationships.
  • Commitment to teach within your expertise, across a range of nursing health courses.
  • Commitment to building mātauranga

  • Contributions to ongoing curriculum development.
  • Communicate effectively and show a commitment to a collaborative team environment.
  • Committed to ongoing professional development supported by the AUT staff development programme.

Te Tono

  • The start date is to be negotiated.

Salary Range:

Lecturer- $85,000 - $101,000 pro-rata (appointment level and salary commensurate with skills and experience)

Senior Lecturer- $104,000 - $137,000 pro-rata (appointment level and salary commensurate with skills and experience)
