The oral health department is committed to the integration of cultural safety into the delivery of our curricula. A kaiwhakaako in the department of oral health will purposefully engage in the co-design and implementation of the undergraduate and post graduate oral health programmes. The department commits to a Te Tiriti curriculum with the successful applicant collaborating to kaupapa Māori and interweaving mātauranga aligned with the competencies of Te Kaunihera Tiaki Niho o Aotearoa. The kaiwhakaako will contribute to existing mātauranga Māori and be supported to share mahi with other Māori working in this space.
Whilst a masters/doctoral qualification is preferred, we are open to hearing from applicants who have strengths in tikanga, mātauranga, and Te Ao Māori who are interested in working towards an academic career, post-graduate qualifications and research. The successful applicant will be supported by, and contribute to, a network of other tangata whenua kaiwhakaako and a growing tangata whenua leadership team within the School of Clinical Sciences.
The oral health department is open to kōrero regarding flexible working arrangements that may incorporate flexible hours, job-sharing, working remotely and/or study leave.

The successful applicant will actively engage in facilitating the delivery of education at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. To achieve great outcomes in this role, as well as your solid experience, you will also bring:
- Knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi as a foundation for meeting and exceeding professional competencies.
- Knowledge of te reo me onā tikanga and/or be willing to deepen your understanding in this space.
- Connections and relationships to the Mana Whenua of Tāmaki Makaurau or the desire to develop these relationships.
- Commitment to teach within your expertise, across a range of oral health courses.
- Commitment to build mātauranga and to share this with other Māori in this space, and in Te Ao Whānui.
The successful applicant will:
- Work with the Head of Oral Health to support the success and progression of Māori students.
- Desire to develop a programme of research.
- Contribute to ongoing curriculum development.
- Communicate effectively and show a commitment to a collaborative team environment.
- Be committed to ongoing professional development supported by the AUT staff development programme.

- The start date is to be negotiated.
This role is considered a children's worker role and will be subject to safety checking as part of the Children's Act 2014 .
Salary Range:
Lecturer (Career Path): $85,000 - $101,000 (appointment level and salary commensurate with skills and experience)
Senior Lecturer (Career Path): $104,000 - $137,000 (appointment level and salary commensurate with skills and experience)
