Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting an International Admission Officer. This fixed-term, full-time role is responsible for assessing international student applications, making an admission decision, and communicating the outcome. The position plays an important part of the international student recruitment and conversion process. A high level of accuracy, attention to detail with exceptional customer service is essential for being successful in this role.

  • Assessment of applications and provision of information and advice.
  • Digital Reporting and Administration.
  • Ways of working.

Ō pūmanawa - About you

You will be a positive, dynamic individual with superb customer service skills, who works well in a pressured and multicultural environment. You must be comfortable liaising with people from a wide range of backgrounds to join our busy, high-performing team. You will have a professional, friendly, client-focused approach and an ability to balance competing priorities to ensure deadlines are met.

Your competency with the Microsoft Office suite will allow you to present and communicate information in an effective manner, while your cultural awareness and experience in working with people from diverse backgrounds will enable you to provide this service with sensitivity and diplomacy. You will be able to adapt to new systems and processes with ease.

Key Requirements:

  • Demonstratable experience in admissions and enrolment of students with an education provider.
  • Experience of international education.
  • Experience in working in education sector worldwide or studying as an international student.
  • Well-developed organisational abilities, demonstrating initiative in work planning activities and the ability to prioritise to meet deadlines, often with competing demands, in a complex team environment.
  • Demonstratable experience in the provision of timely and accurate advice to a range of customers and other stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Excellent interpersonal, networking, relationship building and communication skills to enable working with a diverse range of people and cultures, and at a variety of levels.
  • Sound written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with databases and CRMs.
  • Demonstrated experience of providing administrative and/or project support and managing electronic and paper-based records.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and as a member of a team and demonstrated commitment to contributing to a positive team environment.
  • Proven ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • A mature attitude with excellent interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
  • Awareness and sensitivity to cultural, linguistic and communication needs of students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Commitment to the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
