INFORMATION MANAGEMENT ADVISOR
Scion specialises in research, science and technology development for the forestry industry, wood products and wood-derived materials and other biomaterials. Specialists in propagation and forest management, we lead new technology development for renewables, bioproducts and energy and the establishment of a broader based circular bioeconomy.
Our Knowledge Centre is looking for a skilled Information Management Advisor to join a small team of information and knowledge professionals who are committed to delivering a range of services that empower research success.
About the role
This is a great opportunity to support our organisation by driving the continuous improvement of our digital recordkeeping processes, practises, tools and systems. You will be responsible for ensuring our science and business activities are protected and easily accessible into the future. In this role you will enjoy responsibility and variety; you will champion Microsoft 365 training, advocate for consistency and good practice in managing information and content, be involved in project work as well as delivering day-to-day information management activities and embedding new initiatives.
Key accountabilities:
- Lead the development and maintenance of Scion's information standards, processes and systems.
- Champion the development and delivery of user training on digital systems, tools and services.
- Provide IM-related business support to guide and improve practice and processes.
- Implement policies, procedures and guidelines to standardise IM practices throughout Scion.

Along with initiative and drive, you will need to have:
- A relevant graduate degree and information management expertise.
- Experience with records and risk management principles, theories, and current practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications and technologies.
- Good understanding of relevant legislation including the Public Records Act and Archives NZ standards.
- Confidence with providing effective training to groups and individuals.
- Positive approach to supporting change and demonstrated ability to influence people to adopt new ways of working.
- Excellent communication skills and be comfortable with leading or coordinating initiatives.
- Ability to liaise and quickly build rapport, respect and trust with a variety of customers/groups, and enhance the Knowledge Centre's reputation for excellent service.
- Strong self-management, with the ability to think and apply innovative responses to problems or challenges, the flexibility to cope with carrying out multiple tasks at the same time, meet deadlines and prioritise work commitments.
- Enthusiasm for ongoing learning, and able to identify improvements for productivity and effectiveness of individual and team processes.
