Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Human Resources Advisor (onsite), Permanent Part Time (20 hours per week)

People and Capability and Human Resources is looking for a part-time (20 hours per week) client facing HR Adviser. The expectation is that you will have a presence on campus 3 days per week, but total hours may be worked over 3-5 days.

You will be joining the second largest employer in Wellington, in a large multidisciplinary HR team. The role is fast paced, often complex, but rewarding, and provides the opportunity to work across the range of advisory functions particularly in employment relations, organisational design, and facilitation.

HR Advisers at the University provide timely and best practice advice to internal clients regarding employment relations, workforce planning and recruitment, organisational design, and change through a range of HR tools and support services. This particular role is part of divisional team embedded in the faculties.

Ō pūmanawa - About you

The ideal candidate will have some operational HR advisory experience and core HR foundational knowledge across a variety of HR practices, including for example in recruitment, HR documentation, or employment relations. You can demonstrate experience in a client-facing role using your best practice relationship management skills and provision of HR operational/advisory services. You are adaptable, able to self-organise, and be comfortable working autonomously, as well as willing to contribute proactively and positively to support others.

You will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with interpersonal skills allowing you to work with people from different fields, cultures, and levels of seniority. You are already confident working with HR systems, software applications such as Microsoft, know how to utilise data. You know when to engage your colleagues to work as a team, support your colleagues when they need it, and ask for support when you need it too.

Ideally, you may be either a HR Advisor looking for their next opportunity to broaden their current HR advisory experience in a large company or a highly experienced HR Co-ordinator/Administrator who is ready to step up onto the next level into the Advisory space in their career pathway. Recent graduates majoring in Human Resources are welcome to apply as well.
