Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a HR Subject Matter Expert (SME) on a fixed-term, full-time contract to join our HR team. This is a varied role supporting the wider HR team to improve recruitment systems, processes, and HR Technology system change.

In this role you will work collaboratively with members of the wider team, subject matter experts and other teams and business groups.

As our HR SME on the project, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Identify inefficiencies and suggest enhancements to elevate Recruitment & HR processes.
  • Implement solutions to improve overall efficiency and effectiveness within the scope of the project.
  • Gather, interpret, and present data to drive business objectives.
  • Provide recommendations and advocate for process changes.
  • Assist in designing solutions, supporting user acceptance testing, soft launch, and adapting the solution smoothly.

As the lead HR SME for our Recruitment Implementation Project, you're not only responsible for designing solutions but also for influencing the current and future landscape of recruitment innovation. Additionally, you'll provide support in project planning, requirements gathering, team leadership, and facilitating seamless stakeholder communication.

Key Requirements: 

  • Demonstrated experience in HR, with a focus on recruitment project support and process optimization.
  • Experience in identifying inefficiencies, suggesting enhancements, and possibly implementing solutions.
  • Understanding of relevant legal requirements, compliance standards, and university policies related to HR practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and work with individuals at all levels.
