Te āheinga: The opportunity

The Health and Safety team has an opportunity for a forward-thinking, people-centered Health and Safety Advisor to join us! This is a permanent opportunity to join a team that is transforming and building for the future.  

You might be a H&S Advisor seeking a more complex role in a large organisation or perhaps you're currently a H&S Coordinator ready to take the next step in your career. Either way we would love to hear from you!

This is a pivotal role that supports and advises on health and safety management across all our schools, support staff, and the wider community. A key focus in this role is the delivery of continuous improvement in health, safety, and wellbeing, specifically around critical risks. You will empower others by giving them the tools they need to make informed decisions and take them along with you on our journey of returning home safe and well.

At the heart of your success will be your strong interpersonal skills, and your ability to build and leverage workplace relationships. You'll use your naturally engaging style to positively influence behaviour.  You'll also demonstrate:

  • An understanding or desire to learn Te Reo Māori, Tikanga Māori and the values and practices of Kaupapa Māori
  • Evidence of active engagement in building diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplaces/environments
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Successful track record in coaching and influencing
  • Self-motivated and able to hit the ground running
  • Ability to work collaboratively at all levels throughout the organisation
  • Relevant Health and Safety qualification/s
  • Health and safety auditing experience

Tā mātau rourou: What we offer

You'll be working within a close-knit People & Culture team and will also work closely with other teams across the organisation, giving you plenty of opportunities to get to know the wider group and the Te Pūkenga national network.  As an educator we want to grow our kaimahi / staff too.
