Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Head of Programme – Midwifery. The role of Head of Programme for Midwifery works closely with School Director to plan for the Midwifery programmes future and effectively managing its people, resources, learning and teaching and research programmes, including quality assurance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Staff are managed effectively, and operational activities are managed in line with Te Herenga Waka policies and procedures.
  • Achieves excellence in learning, teaching and research that is aligned with broader University and Faculty goals.
  • Supports the leadership and management of the school.
  • Effectively meets human resourcing, operational and financial targets.

Ō pūmanawa - About you

The incumbent will be an enthusiastic teacher and leader, with a PhD or Professional Doctorate in a relevant field and experience commensurate with the level of appointment. The following attributes are essential:

Key Requirements:

  • A completed PhD or Professional Doctorate in a relevant field, or other relevant qualifications commensurate with the seniority of the role.
  • Registration with the Midwifery Council of New Zealand and at least 5 years midwifery experience.
  • Demonstrated evidence of a high standard of teaching in a relevant field at tertiary level.
  • Outstanding people and communication skills including the ability to adjust to different audiences.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
  • An established research platform.
