Wintec’s - Te Pūkenga Te Kura Mō Ngā Mahi Tiaki I Te Hapori (Centre for Health and Social Practice) is seeking a highly motivated Team Manager to join the Centre’s inter-professional management team, based in Hamilton.

If you want to provide leadership in supporting Māori success across Wintec’s - Te Pūkenga nursing programmes and value working collaboratively with other health professional educators in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment, this is an opportunity not to be missed!

About the role

In this role you will establish and maintain strategic relationships with key Māori stakeholders (both internal and external to Wintec) and within Māori nursing networks in Aotearoa; improve equity in Māori health education in alignment with Wintec’s - Te Pūkenga's Toia Mai excellence framework’; and lead innovative strategies to support the success and aspirations of Māori students and their whanau.

The role has a focus on strategic guidance and advice for the Nursing Director on workforce development for our Māori and Pasifika staff.

You will also be responsible for managing the day-to-day academic activities of the nursing team, and ensuring all resources are in place for a quality learning environment. You will guide and support staff to achieve agreed teaching, research and industry engagement outcomes and to grow professionally.

This is a full-time permanent position.

Do you have relevant industry experience as well as a professional qualification(s) in nursing?

With your highly developed communication skills, line management experience and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with relevant industry sectors, you could find your next role in our Centre’s energetic and future focused management team.

Ideally applicants will have:

  • Specialist expertise in Tikanga and Mātauranga Māori
  • Experience leading design and delivery– Using culturally appropriate teaching pedagogies, te reo Māori, tikanga Māori and Te Tiriti-related teaching for specific modules and programmes within the centre.
  • Passion and clear vision for the future of nursing
  • Strong nursing background in both educational and clinical contexts
  • Proven leadership competence within a complex, fast paced, changing environment
  • Demonstrated understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • A passion for supporting students to succeed
  • An understanding of the tertiary education sector
