About our team/Mō te tīma

The Graduate Research School oversees graduate research study at the University of Otago. We provide policy advice for doctoral and research Masters’ degrees, have oversight of all administrative matters related to the PhD programme, provide targeted support for Māori postgraduates, have a Graduate Wellbeing Coach to support postgraduate study, have oversight of postgraduate researcher and supervisor development, and work with the University community to enhance the graduate research culture.

The role/Te mahi

The Graduate Research School is seeking two Assistants to help promote, implement, and evaluate activities to support the graduate research culture at the University of Otago. The Assistants will be actively supporting a programme of activities run by the Graduate Research School, in particular the 2023 Three Minute Thesis Competition and the 2023 Graduate Research Student Symposium.

Your skills and experience/Kā pūkeka me kā wheako

The successful applicant will be expected to be a current (or recently completed) graduate research candidate at the University of Otago. They should have a desire to promote and improve the experience for graduate research candidates at Otago, as well as experience and/or demonstrated skills in the use of social media.

Experience in administration, and in coordinating and organising events would be an advantage.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is a proven ability to work both independently and in a team on designated tasks.

This is a fixed-term, variable hours position from March to December or May to December, up to a maximum of 100 hours. These roles are located in Dunedin.
