Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
Do you want to play a critical role in the growth of the fundraising program here at the University of Canterbury? If so, this role may be perfect for you!

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Gift Governance Officer to assist with the fundraising program here at University of Canterbury. In this role you will provide expert advice in gift governance, strategic support and guidance to key stakeholders and business partners within the organisation. You will also help establish the foundation for best-practice philanthropic gift acceptance, management, governance, and implementation. By doing so you will ensure that philanthropic funds are used in accordance with donor intent. You will also take on the responsibility for leading the implementation of a robust and comprehensive gift and fund management framework, enabling the smooth flow of philanthropic gifts, and providing a solid foundation for UC to substantially increase its fundraising efforts for years to come.

To enhance your chances of success in your application, possessing financial and accounting skills will prove beneficial. A robust background in developing and implementing business processes and procedures is essential. Moreover, this role requires a high-level of detail and proficiency in all aspects of its work, the ability to plan and prioritise work, work to deadlines, and work autonomously within a team environment will be crucial. Familiarity with donor relationship management systems will certainly be advantageous as well as demonstrated gift administration experience. Additionally, strong relationship management skills will be key, as you will be working with a wide range of stakeholders at varying levels, whilst simultaneously handling confidential information with discretion.
