First Chef
Permanent full time role working 40 hours per week year-round in our onsite University catering facilities.
Mō te tūka | The role
Seeking applications for an enthusiastic First Chef to support our Head Chef in leading the kitchen team.
You will be responsible for cooking within budget, assist with ordering and menu development, as well as ensuring the health and wellbeing of our customers through allergen and nutrition management.
Some tasks of the role include:
- Preparation, cooking and serving of high-quality meals
- Allocating tasks to staff on duty
- Assisting with any menu or food concerns
- Managing and maintaining the stores area
- Act as 2IC to the Head Chef and assisting with related duties
This is a permanent role working 40 hours Monday - Friday or Tuesday - Saturday each week, based at our Lincoln Campus. Remuneration for this role is $27 - $30 per hour.
Kā tino Pūkeka/Whēako | Essential skills/experience for the role
To be successful in this role you will need:
- New Zealand Certificate in Cookery (Level 4) minimum
- 5+ years experience in the hospitality industry (preferred)
- Strong organisational skills and a capability to prioritise a varied workload
- Good leadership skills with the ability to stimulate others to complete tasks
