Position Overview

Tēnā tātou katoa and warm Pacific greetings. Ako Aotearoa is New Zealand’s Centre for Tertiary Teaching Excellence. Our mission is to work together with tertiary education providers and agencies to enhance the effectiveness of tertiary teaching and learning and outcomes for ākonga and learners. Established in 2007 by a consortium of tertiary institutions, Ako Aotearoa is funded through contracts with the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) and is hosted by Massey University. 

We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced person for the role of Evaluation Advisor for Ako Aotearoa. This is a new position, and its purpose is to discover, interpret, engage, and visualise the compelling story behind the data to inform and support strategic decision making and reporting to the Board, the education and training sector and key stakeholders related to research, professional learning and development and other initiatives delivered by Ako Aotearoa.  In particular, the Evaluation Advisor will provide analytical support for the Ako Aotearoa strategic work streams, evaluations, surveys and its impact evaluation frameworks and processes.

This role will provide a bridge between the language of business and the language of data science to unlock insights from the datasets and put findings into context.

Reporting to the Director you will have proven knowledge and experience in:

  • Conducting data analytics on research projects, professional development evaluations and performance data from impact measures and outcomes
  • Utilising a range of internal and external data sources to inform future-focused intelligence
  • Strategic management to support management level decision making and reporting both internally and externally
  • Knowledge of Mātauranga Māori evaluation methodologies, priorities and perspectives and walking in Māori research worlds
  • Knowledge of Pacific evaluation methodologies, priorities and perspectives and walking in Pacific research worlds

You will have a natural empathy with the aims of Ako Aotearoa and improving ākonga learner outcomes through quality teaching, education and training and a high level of flexibility such that you are able to move easily from the daily routines and cope with competing priorities.
