Wintec - Te Pukenga, is an innovative and forward-thinking organisation. We embrace change and are actively seeking out new opportunities to develop and enhance the way we work.
We value our connections with the wider community, holding true to our mission to build a strong community through education, research and development.
The Centre for Languages provides English programmes at all levels for students for whom English is a second or other language. We tutor permanent residents, new migrants and international students from a number of different countries. Students then typically pathway into the workplace, back into the community empowered with stronger language skills, or on to study other disciplines at Wintec.
A priority for the Centre has been to facilitate access to learning by making programmes as flexible as possible, including the use of new learning technologies.
About the role:
We are seeking to employ a part-time fixed-term Academic Staff Member as well as casual relief teachers in semester 1, 2023. Suitable applicants will need to be qualified and ideally have experience teaching English as an Additional Language at a variety of levels, potentially including EAP and second language literacy and numeracy.
You may also be required to develop materials and be able to carry out assessment and moderation work as required.
You will be teaching contextualised EAL, which will involve creating a positive and supportive learning environment. You will use current, proven effective teaching strategies that promote learning, with a particular awareness of a holistic approach to akonga (student)-centred teaching.
You will need appropriate language
teaching qualifications, preferably at Postgraduate level, and relevant
extensive experience in teaching EAL and/or Literacy and Numeracy. You will
also possess strong interpersonal skills, enjoy working and contributing in a
team environment, and have an active interest in learning new skills.
If you are looking for a new challenge and this sounds like you, apply today!
