Position Overview

📢 Join us at Tāwharau Ora, Massey’s School of Veterinary Science at Massey University, where we're seeking passionate individuals for the role of Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor in Equine Surgery, based in the beautiful Manawatu region of New Zealand. 

This is a permanent full-time position offering a stimulating environment for professional growth and development. We would be delighted to hear from boarded surgeons but equally an experienced non-boarded surgeon would be suitable too.

As a member of our Equine Group within the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, you'll deliver top-notch clinical surgery services to our clients. Additionally, you'll play a pivotal role in educating veterinary undergraduates, interns, and residents through lectures, tutorials, and hands-on case-based instruction. Depending on your background, there's ample opportunity to expand your research focus. We strongly encourage participation in clinical research and scholarly activities. Depending on your level of appointment, you may also contribute to course coordination, clinical roster leadership, academic group leadership, and mentorship of academic staff. About you | Ko koe tēnei

If you're an experienced equine clinician passionate about veterinary education, particularly clinical teaching, then this role is worth consideration.

  • Adaptability and effectiveness in leading and navigating change are crucial, as is a track record of successful supervision of residents and junior staff. 
  • An advanced qualification such as Diplomate status and/or a PhD in equine surgery is preferred.
  • An emerging or established research career will be demonstrated by appropriate scholarly outputs.

Applicants must hold a veterinary degree registrable in New Zealand.

The salary range for this role is at a Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor grade (2024), ranging from $101,724 - $157,025 (NZD). Salary will be negotiable based on background and experience.
