About our team/Mō te tīma

The IT infrastructure team at Otago University have the privilege of managing and supporting one of the largest and most complex IT sites in New Zealand. We provide many of the systems and services that the University needs in order to deliver high quality research and teaching outcomes. 

An internal promotion has resulted in a vacancy within our engineering team and we are now looking for a Systems Engineer to join the team.

The role/Te mahi

Technically, we are looking for someone with some skills around how to build and manage servers; we support a fleet of around 1,100 virtual machines split roughly 50:50 between Windows and Linux (Red Hat Enterprise Linux). You don't have to be an expert to join our team, what we are looking for is someone with the right attitude that wants to take their IT skills to the next level.

This role is an exciting opportunity for you to join a high performing team, working to support one of New Zealand’s largest enterprise research environments.

This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week), permanent position located in Dunedin. This role will require scheduled work outside of hours and responding to call out events as needed.

The appointment range for this position is $70,602 to $82,849 per annum.
