Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting an Engagement and Alumni Adviser to join the Alumni, Engagement and Events team in the Development and Alumni Relations Office. This is a permanent position.

This role will provide support to a wide range of engagement and events activities and initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Helping to organise and deliver a programme of alumni events in New Zealand and internationally.
  • Assisting with alumni engagement data management including record management, inputting data and exporting data.
  • Engaging with members of the alumni community in a way that fosters ongoing relationships.
  • Contributing to digital engagement projects and initiatives.
  • Preparing written materials to support event administration and delivery.

Ō pūmanawa - About you

You will be a motivated, capable individual who can take the initiative, provide excellent customer service and be a team player.

You will thrive in this role with an excellent manner with people and good organisational skills. This role is busy, with a great variety of activities in your work programme and supportive colleagues in your team.

Key requirements:

  • Proven experience organising/managing events.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise, plan and meet deadlines.
  • Capability to work as part of a team as well as strong self-management skills.

Experience with the Raiser’s Edge and NXT database is desirable but not essential. Proficiency with digital tools such as Campaign Monitor, Canva, video/sound editing software and CMS systems or demonstrated experience of digital content production are also desirable but not essential.

It is expected that the Engagement and Alumni Adviser will be able to do after hours and weekend work, on occasion when required, for evening functions and other major events. Some travel may also be required in this position.
