About our team/Mō te tīma

Property Services is responsible for buildings with a replacement cost of NZ$2.5 billion, and more than 22,000 hectares of land. With over 3,500 University Staff and 20,000 students, it can be a bit like helping to run a small town.

We deploy, support, and maintain a wide and exciting array of equipment and facilities including state-of-the-art research laboratories, large student accommodation facilities, commercial premises, and world-class teaching facilities.

The University’s Energy Team works with all areas of the University including academics and residential colleges.

The role/Te mahi

In this role, you will be focused on assisting and supporting the University with energy saving projects and projects designed to optimise plant and the conservation of energy.

Based in the Property Services Division, you will be directly supported and mentored by the University’s Energy & Building Controls Manager.

You will be working in a progressive collegiate university environment, which is leading the industry in many energy related areas and regularly collaborates with students and researchers.

Key tasks of this role include:
•    Assisting and supporting the Energy & Building Controls Manager with key projects. Preparing reports that identify trends in energy consumption.
•    Reviewing and reporting building-by-building analytics and providing reports on energy reduction opportunities.
•    Raising energy savings awareness across the university.
•    Exploring and providing options for fuel switching opportunities.
•    Assisting project teams by driving energy savings and associated carbon reduction opportunities.  
•    Assisting in the development of workflows, process and procedures specific to unit.
•    Working in close collaboration with the Office of Sustainability and supporting carbon reduction initiatives.
•    Reviewing and reporting building analytics and infrastructure opportunities that will reduce energy consumption.

Your skills and experience/Kā pūkeka me kā wheako

This is an opportunity that is well suited to a recent graduate with an interest in Energy Management and Sustainability.

Successful candidates will have:

•    A relevant qualification in energy related studies.
•    Data analysis skill sets or experience.
•    The ability to produce well written, concise non-financial reports i.e. carbon reporting.
•    The ability to prepare presentable energy reports, energy audits and cases.
•    A high level of computer literacy and excellent communication skills.

This is a permanent, full-time (37.5 hours per week) position.
