The role/Te mahi

As an Electrician within the Trade Services team, you will be responsible for high-quality Electrical Controls work across the Dunedin Campus. Our Electricians thrive on the varied work that the University portfolio provides and quickly enjoy becoming the source of professional advice for our clients on all electrical trade matters.

You will have the opportunity to work on large and meaningful projects across a mixture of residential, and commercial projects, ensuring that the University of Otago buildings and utilities continue to be a safe environment for our students and staff to study and work.

The campus environment has a number of highly serviced buildings with cutting edge control systems installed so there is good opportunity for you to sharpen or develop your skills in controls building management systems.

Your skills and experience/ Kā pūkeka me kā wheako

Ideally you will be a qualified and experienced Electrician, with practical and sound knowledge of the Electrical sector.

Other desired qualifications/experience include:
•    Current NZ Electrician Registration and current Electrical Practicing Licence.
•    Experience in Electrical and Controls installation and maintenance would be an advantage.
•    BMS, PLS and HVAC Controls experience is an advantage.
•    Comprehensive understanding of the Building Act, Electrical standards, regulations, and Health and Safety requirements.
•    Current First Aid Certificate, or the willingness to obtain one.

The Property Services and Campus Development Division, as part of the wider University of Otago is a division responsible for buildings with a replacement cost of NZ$2.5 billion, and more than 22,000 hectares of land. With over 3,500 University Staff and 20,000 students, it can be a bit like helping to run a small town.

We deploy, support, and maintain a wide and exciting array of equipment and facilities including state-of-the-art research laboratories, large student accommodation facilities, and a variety of multi-use space from teaching facilities through to restaurant and café venues.

This is a permanent, full-time (40 hours week) position, located in Dunedin.

The salary range for this role is $69,135 to $84,558 per annum.
