Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering provides a high-quality education for students, and actively supports a range of research activities. The role of the Electrical Machines Lab Technician is to support this by managing the development, operation, safety and maintenance of the technically complex Electrical Machines and Power Research Laboratories.
Mōu | Who You Are
You enjoy working in a team environment and can work in a diverse team of technical and professional staff. You can support students in a friendly and patient manner.
You also have:
- Experience in Electrical Machinery and Electrical Power Supplies, ideally within technically challenging environments, involving both low and high voltage.
- Experience with electrical machines, wiring and instrumentation, and with some fabrication and repair skills.
- A Qualification in Electrical wiring and safety regulations.
- The ability to think innovatively about electrical equipment for teaching and research.

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is a strong and forward-looking Department, dedicated to excellence in both research and teaching. Opportunities for a wide range of interactions within the Department are strong, with several research activities addressing fields relating Electric Power Engineering, Power Electronics, Renewable Energy and Power Quality, High Voltage and super-conducting applications, along with a number of other research areas.
