Mō mātou | About us

The Digital Experience (DX) team are seeking a Digital Designer to join us in a permanent role and build upon our current digital design capacity and skillsets. We're a dedicated crew specialising in digital design, videography, animation, user experience, and extended reality. We produce a wide range of digital media solutions for online delivery, including interactives, video (live action, animation, and motion graphics), plus more traditional graphic design (infographics, illustration, photography etc). We are also taking our first steps into Extended Reality (XR) research and prototyping for vocational education.

This is reflective of our continued drive to learn and develop new media solutions for our learners. We thrive on creative challenges of all scales, focused on effective learning and engagement. We design and develop for the end-to-end learning experience, rather than components in isolation. And we do it all with a good natured, and team based approach.

You're creative, curious and collaborative. We need you to be versatile, working with other team members on innovative interaction design and graphic design solutions. You take an iterative approach to digital design and development. You use initiative to anticipate challenges and find solutions. You're plain-speaking while being considerate of others. You have excellent skills using Adobe Creative Cloud applications. You know how to work with HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript. You're also super keen to learn more in a team environment that supports your development.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification and 3+ years' experience in web and graphic design.
  • Confidence using digital design tools/applications, especially Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign.

  • Capability to problem solve and come up with creative design solutions, while collaborating with a diverse range of kaimahi.
  • Skills to collect, collate and clearly communicate project requirements.
  • Intellect to innovate and continually improve on design processes and practices.
  • Experience in delivering digital media requests within budget.
  • A working knowledge of digital design principles and practices.

It is a role with plenty of face-to-face interaction. You will primarily be based onsite in Lower Hutt, while also having the flexibility to work from home and connect with our kaimahi online.

Ngā hua o tō tomo mai ki a mātou - Why you should join our team

We offer our people flexible working options, free education (and 50% off for whānau), a modern work environment, free car parking on campus, subsidised school holiday programmes for your children, and free fitness classes.
