Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
The School of Earth and Environment is seeking a Data Management and Remote Sensing Technician to join the schools technical team.
In this role you will be involved in the remote sensing data collection out in the field. Working with the Schools LiDARs and UAV's will be fundamental in this role.
You will be responsible for the storage of and access to datasets and models. You will support management of laboratories and equipment associated with the day-to-day operation of the School.
Support School activities by teaching into courses as appropriate around areas such as data gathering techniques, GIS, Geological mapping, and project supervision. Work with students, academic staff, and visitors to assist with the application of numerical models to geological and natural hazard data and facilitate incorporation of scientific principles into model development.
Mōu | Who You Are
You are passionate about and ideally have experience gathering GIS, remote sensing, and special data field work. You will have:
- Experience with laboratory, software, and field work organisation and development.
- Experience in modelling and using and manipulating geospatial and 3D visualisation software.
- Experience in processing of remotely sensed data.
- MSc Degree (NZQA Level 8) in relevant research area, or BSc Degree and relevant work experience.
You should have a clean and current New Zealand drivers' licence.
