NMIT has an exciting Nelson based opportunity to fill due to internal movement within the business. We are looking for the ultimate leader to support and manage our Mātauranga Māori academic team to deliver outstanding Mātauranga Māori programmes of study for our ākonga and their whānau.  This role is a permanent full-time position.

Delivering our programmes in response to our ākonga will require an effective leader who is highly organised, enjoys managing and leading people, and is passionate and dedicated to removing barriers so everyone can succeed.

About you / He kōrero mōu

As a successful Pouwhakahaere (Curriculum Manager) you will have:

  • Demonstrated leadership experience and management skills to work collaboratively with community and sector partners, kaimahi and ākonga and whānau.
  • A drive to grow a business and build the capability of your team to ensure education is excellent and relevant to our community. 
  • The ability to work proactively, and the flexibility and skills to work in a changing tertiary education environment. 
  • Be learner-focused, highly motivated, enthusiastic, reflective, and self-managing.
  • Experience and competence in budgeting, performance management systems and be a champion for positive change.
  • A passion, desire, and commitment to keeping abreast of current sector issues and initiatives that influence learning, teaching, and assessment.
  • Knowledge and confidence to manage and lead a team, as well as to work with wider NMIT and Te Pūkenga colleagues. 

To be successful in the role you will need:  

  • Masters or relevant degree/qualifications in a relevant area
  • Proficiency in te reo me ona tikanga is highly desirable
  • Teaching experience or qualification is highly desirable
