Mō te tūnga | About the role 

Come and join our pool of talented Contract Learning Designers! The Contract Learning Designer is responsible for the design and development of pedagogically sound, technology enabled teaching and learning experiences for open, distance and flexible learning programmes. 

The Contract Learning Designer works in a team alongside a Project Manager, Principal Learning Designer, Subject Matter Experts/Content Creator, Content Reviewers, and Editors to create courses and assessments for ākonga across the country. 

Ngā pūkenga mo te tūnga | What you will bring to the role 

  • Experience in developing bicultural and/or culturally responsive courseware
  • The ability to turn raw information into engaging teaching and learning experiences
  • Knowledge and experience of instructional/learning design principles and educational practices
  • Experience in learning resources development, including assessments
  • A good understanding of the NZQF and what it means to develop learning resources and assessments for different levels on the framework
  • Well-developed communication skills with the ability to negotiate, clarify goals, communicate information, concepts and arguments effectively
  • Effective planning and organisation skills
  • Well-developed computing skills, including authoring tools and learning management systems
  • Creativity, innovation and willingness to investigate non-traditional alternatives
  • An understanding of the current tertiary education sector in Aotearoa New Zealand

Contracts usually take between 150-300 hours to complete.
