Conservation Fields Skills Tutor - location flexibility

Do you have an operational conservation background and are keen to share your knowledge with others?  We have a growing team of conservation tutors, and are looking for someone to join us for 2022 to deliver field skills short courses locally and across Aotearoa.

NMIT are looking for a person or people to fill this fixed term, part time role for the 2022 academic year. The role requires you to travel throughout Aotearoa/New Zealand, so it is not entirely necessary that you are based in the Nelson/Tasman region. 

You will have skills in the methodology of five minute bird count, foliar browse index, plant identification and pest control (plants and animals).  You do not have to have all of these skill sets, but if you also have a background in facilitation and teaching and/or qualification in teaching at a tertiary level then we are keen to hear from you.

Reporting to the Curriculum manager, you will;

  • Facilitate the delivery of courses using interactive technology in accordance with NMIT learning and teaching strategy
  • Provide feedback to the Curriculum Manager on course and programme delivery matters
  • Work with the teaching and administrative team to deliver and exciting and up to date course to our learners.

You will be someone who has the ability, vision, experience, and drive to support the delivery of Conservation Fields Skills and short courses around the country. 

You will have:

  • A Conservation qualification
  • Experience in the fields of teaching and online learning would be an advantage
  • Experience working with Māori and Pasifika learners
  • A record of successful achievement of education performance indicators
  • Ability to manage stakeholder relationships
