Communication and Events Manager

B.linc Innovation is a business unit of Lincoln University and is located within the Lincoln University campus. B.linc Innovation is an agricultural innovation hub. B.linc's role is to be a neutral connector, helping to facilitate and grow an exponential innovation ecosystem in agriculture, food, and technology. By connecting across industry, science, and agriculture, we develop innovation for the future.
B.linc works to support the Lincoln University development strategy by facilitating industry-led research and innovation in food, fibre and agritech through projects both internal and external to the University environment.
We are looking for a fulltime permanent Communications and Event Manager to join the B.linc Innovation team. The Communications and Event Manager is a key partner within B.linc Innovation, facilitating the delivery on strategic goals and the vision to establish a vibrant, connected agri-food innovation ecosystem in Canterbury. The role will involve engaging with stakeholders across the agricultural sector and alongside the Director, will be responsible for commissioning relevant private sector companies, education providers, industry associations and the wider public sector.
The role works to manage and supervise the design, co-ordination and execution of integrated, effective and engaging communication plans across various channels and platforms which align with Lincoln University and B.linc Innovation brand, voice and vision. The Communications and Event Manager will collaborate with internal stakeholders and provide strategic communication expertise to grow and support B.linc Innovation's internal, direct and social media communications across multiple mediums and channels.
To be successful in this role you will ideally have:
- A tertiary qualification (majoring in public relations, business communication, journalism, marketing or similar)
- 5+ years' corporate communications, marketing, and events management experience.
- Combination of corporate and market communication experience would be preferable.
- A keen eye for detail with an excellent command of the English language (both written and verbal)
- Experience using pragmatic marketing and pragmatic project approaches.
- A collaborative style with a willingness to be a "doer" and get things done.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to connect people with confidence.
- Experience and an understanding of the Aotearoa New Zealand and international primary sectors
