Colab Master of Creative Technologies Fees Scholarship

Value of Award: Each scholarship will cover tuitionand student services fees to 180pts

No. of awards: Four

Tenure: Eighteen months full-time study. If the scholarship is awarded to a part-time student, funding after 18 months will be allocated only if available.  Recipients must pass the 60 points of coursework with a B grade average to be eligible for funding for the thesis year.

Colab is the collaboratory for Design and Creative Technologies at the Auckland University of Technology (AUT), New Zealand. Our aim is to encourage researchers, students and stakeholders to imagine, construct, articulate and navigate rapidly changing social, economic, technological and career environments.

To support innovative interdisciplinary research that reflects Colab’s future focused aspirations. In 2018 Colab will offer up to four fees scholarships for the Master of Creative Technologies in areas including Play and Interaction, Virtual Worlds, Mediated Materials, Creative Computing, Entrepreneurship and Expanded Media.


Selection criteria:
  • ·        Applicants must be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents
  • ·        Applicants must meet the requirements for the Master of Creative Technologies programme.
  • ·        The scholarships are available on merit to New Zealand citizens or permanent residents.
  • ·        Preference will be given to full-time applicants. While both part-time and full-time students are eligible to apply preference will be given to full-time applicants as they are more likely to make a higher contribution to Colab’s research culture.
  • ·        Preference will be given to proposals in areas of interdisciplinary engagement pertinent to Colab's aims and research focus.

How do students apply?
The applicant must apply through the AUT on-line scholarship application portal and upload;
Copies of transcripts for study completed at any tertiary institution other than at AUT
A copy of the Research Interest Form (RIF) that will be submitted as a component of the application for admission.  The RIF can be obtained from the Colab Manager, Pat Jones pat.jones@aut.ac.nz .

Decision makers
The applications will be reviewed and awarded by the Colab Postgraduate and Research Management team.
Applications will be evaluated on the basis of the projects potential to enhance Colab's research culture.
No scholarships will be awarded if the Management team considers the applications not to be of sufficient merit.
Scholarships will be awarded as soon as possible after the closing date.

As soon as possible after the closing date.

What conditions are attached to acceptance of this award?
Recipients of the Master of Creative Technologies - Colab Scholarship may not also hold the Master of Creative Technologies - Colab Fees Scholarship.
Recipients must accept the Offer of Place before the scholarship is taken up.
Scholarship recipients are expected to pass all Semester One MCT papers at a level of B grade or above and have their PGR1 proposal approved to ensure continuation of the Scholarship into the thesis year.
