Who we are

Each and everyday staff, students and the general public benefit directly and indirectly from the dedicated efforts of Property Services Division employees. We are the physical foundation of the teaching, research and learning that takes place at the University, and we are proud of the important role we play.

The Division is responsible for buildings with a replacement cost of NZ$2.5 billion, and more than 22,000 hectares of land. With over 3,500 University Staff and 20,000 students, it is a bit like helping to run a small town.

The role

This role joins the Carpentry and Joinery team within the Property Services Division. Our team is responsible for a wide range of alterations and adaptions, general repairs and maintenance as well as a wide range of joinery and timber related tasks in both commercial and residential settings.

We are looking for an experienced Carpenter to join our team, working on some large and complex buildings here at the University of Otago.

Your skills and experience

•    Be suitably qualified.
•    Have extensive experience within the building and construction industry with experience working on commercial and residential buildings.
•    Self-motivated, energetic and organised.
•    Experience managing a team.

This position requires a person who can work under minimum supervision with good communication skills and a courteous nature as much of the work involves dealing with a variety of people around the University.

This is a permanent, full-time position.
