Toi Ohomai delivers quality vocational education and training to both domestic and international students, across five main campuses in Rotorua, Tauranga, Taupō, Tokoroa and Whakatāne, and numerous delivery sites across the Bay of Plenty and South Waikato.
Toi Ohomai is now a division of Te Pūkenga – New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology and part of a transformational change unifying all 16 Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics across Aotearoa; together with other work-based, provider-based and online learning. Collectively we will be NZ’s largest tertiary education provider with national and regional reach enabling learners and employers to move seamlessly between workplaces, other educational offerings and locations as their needs change.
Toi Ohomai prides itself on being well-connected with the needs of our learners and the expectations of our industry and employers. The Careers and Employability Facilitator plays an important and exciting role in supporting learners with their employability skill development and identification of personal attributes to complement their academic learning. This role is based at the Mokoia Campus, Rotorua however you will travel to other Toi Ohomai campuses as and when required.
The Careers and Employability Facilitator is a member of the Careers and Employability Team within the Student Services Team. The role aims to facilitate career pathways and employability skills development to ākonga throughout their learning journey, from the time of first enquiry to graduation and beyond.
More specifically the Careers and Employability Facilitator will:
- Be part of a team that deliver a Careers and Employability service that prioritises ākonga engagement with career pathways and development of employability skills and confidence;
- Support ākonga through career planning from pre-enrolment to alumni;
- Work with kaiako, ākonga and where applicable other stakeholders, to plan and deliver a range of suitable career and employment skills workshops, employment opportunities, events and 1-1 support to enhance ākonga success in attaining their chosen careers;
- Explore and develop a range of engaging resources and materials that assist employability skills development and enhance confidence and independence
- Provide access for our diverse range of ākonga to a range of employment events and other opportunities connecting them to recruitment, employment and/or volunteer possibilities;
- Support the embedding of careers and employability into curricula and across the organisation.
Key to your success in this role will be your demonstrated ability to work with tertiary learners of all ages, abilities and cultural backgrounds. The demonstrated skills, experience and qualifications required for this role include:
- Customer service, self-management, and teamwork
- ICT and innovation
- Employer and industry connection and maintaining networks
- A degree level qualification
- Strong evidence in education, marketing and/or events
